Oldest Waymarked Zippy Strips

The database for Zippy the Pinhead Real World locations starts about the year 2000. However, the creator of the comic, Bill Griffith has been featuring real world locations for much longer than that. 

You can find locations in various annuals and other book collections dating way back. 

The database itself is not perfect. Locations have been listed incorrectly or not at all. Several waymarkers have found locations that simply are not listed in any of the online resources using these other resources. These waymarks always impress me because they took some real research to find them.

The oldest waymark created is from a strip that ran on 04-07-1994  

Luxor - "Drinks with the Sphinx" - Las Vegas, NV   was posted by Go Boilers!. What an amazing find.

State & Country Lists Updated

Updated the found locations on the blog.  The last full update was in July of 2010. Since then waymarkers have added 95 new waymarks to the category.

Submissions have come from around the world and from across the United States.

BruceS found an error that had a strip in Vermont when it was actually in Indiana.

"One listed as 9/14/09 Conehead? - Outside Montpelier VT should be listed as outside Montpelier, IN (Indiana)."

A new opportunity for waymarking in PA was added due to a strip from November 2010 having a Maple Donuts location featured. DougK found one of the several locations featured in the strip however there are a few other real world locations that are unknown.

Another first: Kudos to DougK for passing the 100 Zippy Locations waymarked. He is currently standing at 116 locations found and posted.  Each waymark that DougK submits is a pleasure to review. If you would like to see a quality waymark open up any one of  Doug's.

Doug also found several locations not listed in the state lists by utilizing Zippy Annuals. These finds include some of the oldest zippy locations waymarked dating to 1998.

These previously unlisted locations are now waymarked and added to the CA state location list.
